Hello everyone and salut back to Things I didn’t buy this week. With another extra holiday edition, just know that this is definitely not me:
This used to be me though, bb (before baby), when my sleep was so delightful that I would snooze even through the arrival of some steamy beverage brought by my equally hot lover aka Arthur (never mind the 3+ mugs). Now it’s more like, one of us is definitely awake, chatting away, while two of us pretend to sleep, so that eventually he doses off again too. Which happens sometimes. And of course we love all of it!! But if you question why I’m wearing sunglasses inside on the following images or why this newsletter is past its usual deadline; read this text again or zoom in onto the bed. Mr. le man is the boss of our time, he is time himself.*
Things on heavy rotation
So while exploring the Provence countryside and holding the baby (is he teething already!?), things need to be efficient. No time to rethink outfits. Remember when I showed you what I packed; I’m feeling pretty confident about that still. But the truth is, 90 % of what’s in my suitcase might fit into 15 % of our stay here. Because while I’m not sure which day or month we’re at, I can say it’s in fact very much pre-spring. So T-Shirts are worn more to bed than breakfast. In the meantime, I basically dress in two items on repeat, with the occasional wash in between. And I feel like I have always been like that, wearing one or maximum three looks on rotation when away from home. Once I hit holiday mode, I tap out of extravaganza and it’s definitely not the time for experiments. So here’s my very basic french cuisine: wide white linen trousers by COS (similar here, I guess we are still in early linen days this year, so good to check in again in a couple of weeks), that are the perfect preggo pants, but more importantly overall chic and versatile. After we took a break from each other over the winter, we are reunited and it feels good. Can recommend! Plus black HEATTECH longsleeve turtleneck by UNIQLO (similar one), which works as a base or solo item. Not sure if it keeps particularly warm, but I like the soft texture.
Look 1
Simple formula, I am throwing in my William Fan hat, VIU sunnies (on sale here), grey fleamarket blazer and JIL SANDER Tangle bag in white (not the eggshell white, I chose the bright white with silver writing). Slipping into my VAGABOND Ezra mules and off we are. I like the mix of formality (blazer) with lightness of pastel greens and white. Being part off duty but still ready to do (brocante) business.
Look 2
The second combo deals with this vintage leather jacket in the softest caramel shade I could find. Also possibly the only beige I can pull off, usually when I wear anything slightly resembling cream, I tend to just blend in. I bought it at a pop up last year from a vintage store based in Frankfurt and online. Absolutely can not find the name right now, but will get back to you about it.
This jacket is giving the right amount of 90’s vibes as it is probably from that era and I like to combine it with my Gucci Bamboo nylon bag, Asics trainers (seem to be pretty sold out, some size 6+ left here), sun hat is optional. Adooore this Max Mara one here:
Easy-peesy, go.
Go, for example, to Marseille – which I absolutely love. A love that has newly been reaffirmed:
for it’s very good windows and very good fashion finds, such as these shoes at one of my favorite stores, Jogging (has the most beautiful inside curtains for sure). Wales Bonner makes them and I’m glad I didn’t spot the price tag, because I already had a feeling, but maybe this could be a DIY situation with some shoes you already own?

also, thanks to very friendly staff, we found ourselves in the funniest adhoc baby changing setup so far (a table is a table is a table. Also, proof for jacket and Gucci being present).
spotted some very nice trousers, they are KidSuper Studios (and have recently sold out online in the brand’s shop, but should still be available at Jogging) and were 50 % off but I didn’t even try them on (so much willpower!!!). I‘m obsessed with everything contrast seams, which reminds me that I famously withstood the allure of the WANDLER Mini Carly bag, something I might regret until the day it shows up in my Vestiaire feed.
Maybe I should also let you know that I was in the presence of the most decadent selection of LEMAIRE croissants bags – maybe apart from the actual LEMAIRE store in Paris. And where are you more destined to buy a croissant (bag) than in France!? Exactly. Here they cost around 100 Euro less than in Germany, which makes sense and still adds up to a significant number, but hey, it’s money!
Ok now you actually know everything. Not much going on other than the odd baguette hunt, trying to get into Boules and wearing those white trousers till they fall apart. In other words: bliss.
Things I didn’t buy this week: 2 (ok 3 if I count all those LEMAIRE bags; the Wandler bag doesn’t count it’s been sold out for ages)
KidSuper Trousers were 305,00 €, now 152,50 € (still available!)
LEMAIRE bag small 590,00 €
WALES BRONNER brown shell loafer were 850,00€, now 425,00€
Phewww. I feel like we’re on a good run not buying things. (Other than Arthur, who slipped at the store and bought a running longsleeve from Satisfy. Great one though and was kind of necessary.) 1/6 of 2024 is done! I think I can be let out on my own for a while. So in order to be fully present here, I will take a few weeks off from the internet. Of course I’ll get back to you once we return to Berlin, beginning of April. If I do happen to buy anything in between I’ll call in for an emergency edit. Until then, happy early spring and let me know what you’re buying or not! xoxo
*writing this, I am sitting in the village nearby the house at the tiny café, sipping espresso, looking across the table, watching my friends visibly enjoy their pain au chocolate, so life IS GOOD.
